Broadway Musicals Popular Again

Broadway is becoming a viable form of entertainment once again. Even though it never died, it’s popularity decreased by a vast amount in recent years. That has all changed during 2016 as two new Broadway productions are bringing a mass amount of interest back into the original form of a film.
Hamilton

Hamilton is currently available to be seen for anyone who wants to view incredible Broadway actors in their craft. It was released originally back on January 20th, 2015 and gained mass popularity in 2016 when it moved to Chicago. The film is based around one of the founding fathers of America, Alexander Hamilton. There is music inspired by Lin-Manuel Miranda, the creator of the play.

The play itself begins during the early years of Alexander Hamilton’s, but it isn’t until twenty minutes into the show that we are introduced to the founding father everyone knows. It is 1776 in New York City, that America just had been founded. All of the after-events of the country being founded is displayed for the audience to view, such as the revolution and his life further in politics. Throughout the play key figures in history such as George Washington are introduced, what results in an incredible tale which showcases everything that is meant to be American and embodies the American dream.

Harry Potter: The Cursed Child

Harry Potter & the Cursed Child is a two-part play written by J.K. Rowling, Jack Thorne, and John Tiffany. The play, which isn’t even available to be seen right now has already been released in book format. The plot of the film starts at Platform 9 ¾ where Harry Potter was last seen at the end of Deathly Hallows. This time, we see an older Harry Potter, Ginny Weasley, and Ronald Weasley saying goodbye to their children Albus Potter & Rose Granger-Weasley. Surprisingly these two become best friends with Scorpius Malfoy.

Harry Potter

We see a story take place around the children and our beloved characters that take us back in time to when Voldemort was still at large. Ginny Weasley tries to end Voldemort before he kills Harry Potters parents so that the second downfall of the Wizarding world would not be a reality anymore. The end result is Harry Potter seeing his parents killed, with nothing he can do in order not to alter the past and the result showing a dignified version of a character so many love.

Throughout the Broadway production, there are various themed music & songs played throughout the background, all of which is the original score that has never been heard before. This score is slated to receive multiple awards come award season.

Conclusion

Both of these plays have brought a mass amount of interest into Broadway once again. This is the first time this has happened in the youth culture in decades. Many analysts believed that Broadway would die with the younger generation but with the likes of Lin-Manuel Miranda and J.K. Rowling, there is a very small chance of that happening now.
